In the first home series of the second half, the Idaho Falls Chukars took two of three from the Missoula PaddleHeads.
Missoula came into the series at 5-1 in the second half and looked to make a statement, until the Chukars put together two solid ballgames.
On Tuesday night, Idaho Falls won took a 6-4 win as RHP Ian Lanik earned his first win of the season, after going seven complete allowing just four runs, striking out four and not walking any.
2B Garret Ostrander had a pair of doubles and C Drew Stengren had a clutch two-RBI single in the sixth to give the Chuks a lead they would not relinquish.
On Wednesday, Idaho Falls beat Missoula 12-9 thanks to a stout bullpen effort.
In the first two games, the bullpen combination of RHP Ryan Inouye, RHP Hunter Hargett, RHP Quinten Graves and LHP Eddie Thompson, allowed just one run in seven innings of work.
3B Justin Trimble had a three-homer day, going 5-for-5 with six runs driven in, all game-high’s for a Chukar this season. RF Sam Canton would cack up five RBI, ending the night a homerun short of the cycle.
RHP Hunter Hargett would earn his second save of the series and is now second in the league with nine behind Zach Voelker of Long Beach, who has 12.
Missoula tightened their ship on Thursday evening, fending off the Chuks in a 19-14 slugfest.
CF Tyler Wyatt and 1B Parker Lester went back-to-back in an eight-run second inning, and Wyatt has now hit 15 home runs this season, the second-most in his six-year career.
On the series, the team hit .441, putting up 32 runs with 12 doubles and five home runs.
3B Justin Trimble led the offense going 9-for-14 with four doubles, three home runs and eight driven in. OF Sam Canton also drove in eight runs on seven hits.
The Chukars look to continue their over-.500 play in a three-game series against Great Falls at Melaleuca Field this weekend.
