HUGE CHUKAR COMEBACK LEADS TO SERIES WIN
Idaho Falls trailed by six, before using a nine-run bottom of the eighth to earn their fourth series win of the season.
Great Falls plated on in the top of the second from a Kyle Schmack home run.
The Chukars would respond with six in the second inning, with a pair of walks, a double from DH DeMarckus Smiley, a two-RBI single of OF Sam Canton and a RBI single from OF Tyler Wyatt.
With a 6-1 IF lead, it became they Voyagers’ game. After six runs in the third, Great Falls would hit five home runs in the fifth inning, including back-to-back-to-back-to-back home runs. They would ride their 15-9 lead into the eighth inning.
Down six runs, OF Sam Canton and 3B Justin Trimble began the inning with back-to-back jacks, with Trimbles travelling 491 feet, the second-longest home run in the Pioneer League this season.
Three consecutive walks, a hit-by-pitch and a balk, would give the Chukars a three-run lead heading into the ninth.
RHP Ryan Inouye would retire three of the five he faced, earning his third save of the season.
OF Tyler Wyatt would have his second four-hit night of the season, both against Great Falls and his fourth four-RBI game of the year.
It was the second nine-run comeback win of the season, as the Chuks did it once before to Great Falls the last time they visited Melaleuca Field in late June.
IF hosts Billings for the final series of the first half, with game one on Friday night at 7:05 PM.
All games can be heard on 980AM KSPZ the SportsZone and streamed on the HomeTeam Network.
