NINTH INNING COMEBACK LEADS TO CHUKS WIN
The Idaho Falls Chukars finished up their Montana road trip on Sunday, with a dramatic ninth-inning rally to beat the Missoula PaddleHeads, 5-4.
The first eight innings were all Missoula as they plated one in the third and on one in the fifth inning.
The Chukars were held scoreless through the first eight innings and were staring down being shutout for the second time in the road trip after not having been shut out since late 2024.
LHP Seth Spencer did his job on the mound, allowing just two earned runs on five hits in his longest outing of the season, going seven complete.
LHP Sean Kelby earned his second win, this time in relief of Spencer, going 1.1 innings, allowing two runs.
In the top of the ninth inning, down two runs, OF Sam Canton got aboard via a one-out single. 3B Justin Trimble worked a walk and OF Tyler Wyatt smacked a single to load the bases and represent the go-ahead run on first base.
1B Parker Lester then hit his second grand slam of the season, and the seventh for the Chukars this year.
This gave the Chukars their first lead of the weekend with a 4-2 ballgame.
SS Emilio Barrera hit a sacrifice fly, RBI, which scored OF Wes Mitchell and gave the Chukars a three-run lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, RHP Hunter Hargett came in with the bases loaded and allowed a two-run single to make it a one-run contest.
He would then proceed to get a pop out and a line out to left field to secure his team-leading fourth save of the season.
Before Sunday, Idaho Falls was 0-24 while trailing after the eighth inning, demonstrating the significance of the comeback.
The Chuks book-ended their Montana road trip, winning the first two in Billings on Tuesday and the last one in Missoula on Sunday, going 3-4.
Idaho Falls wraps up the first half with a six-game homestand against the Great Falls Voyagers and Billings Mustangs.
