The Idaho Falls Chukars swept the doubleheader in Billings against the Mustangs, who came into the day in first place in the Pioneer League.
The Chukars have now won five games in a row, their longest winning streak of the season and second-longest active streak in the league.
Game one went to the Chuks with a convincing 10-3 victory.
IF began the day with a bang, with a 11-batter, seven-hit, eight run top of the first inning.
INF Justin Trimble hit a three-home run to right field in the first inning, the only home run of the day by either side.
In the second inning, OF Tyler Wyatt tripled home a run and later scored on an RBI from
1B Parker Lester.
Billings would put three on the board between the first and second innings and after that, it was a pitcher’s duel to close the game out, as neither team was able to plate a run for the remaining five innings.
LHP Seth Spencer earned his second win of the year, going five complete allowing just three earned.
The Chukars would win game two by a score of 11-9.
In game two, Billings jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
Coming out of the bullpen, RHP Blayne Fritcher was steady, going 2.2 innings scoreless.
Idaho Falls would tie the game at four in the third, with a walk, a hit-by-pitch and a two-RBI single by INF Justin Trimble.
In the top of the fifth, the Chuks broke the tie with four more runs. SS Ty Dooley began the frame with a triple and INF Casey Vaughan promptly followed that with a double off of the wall, scoring Dooley.
RBI singles from OF Sam Canton and OF Wes Mitchell would give IF an 8-4 lead.
Billings would bring the game within two in the fifth, but the Chukars plated three insurance runs on an OF Tyler Wyatt RBI double and a 1B Parker Lester RBI single.
RHP Hunter Hargett recorded four outs from the bullpen and earned his team-leading third save of the season.
