BIG FIRST INNING GIVES CHUKS WIN VS BOISE
The Idaho Falls Chukars played their most complete game of the season, in an 8-3 win over the Boise Hawks on Friday night.
The Chuks have now taken three of their four games against Boise at Melaleuca Field, trailing four games to six in the Highway Series.
Idaho Falls had a big inning to start things off, plating six in the bottom of the first.
INF Justin Trimble started the party with an RBI single, scoring SS Ty Dooley.
Two batters later, 1B Parker Lester, in just his fourth game played in a Chukars uniform, hit a backside grand slam to left field, his first of the season. This was the sixth grand slam of the season by the Chuks in just 33 games played.
INF Emilio Barrera hit a sacrifice fly, scoring OF Wes Mitchell, the sixth run of the inning. The Chukars have now scored six or more runs in five consecutive games.
LHP Sean Kelby was stellar in his second start for the Chukars, going five complete, allowing just four hits and three runs while fanning three.
Boise would score one in the third, and two in the fourth against Kelby.
OF Wes Mitchell added his eighth home run in the third inning.
The Chukars bullpen was phenomenal, allowing just two earned runs as RHP Blayne Fritcher tossed two scoreless, hitless innings while relieving Kelby.
RHP Hunter Hargett earned his team-leading second save of the year after retiring all five batters he faced in the eighth and ninth innings.
OF Wes Mitchell would finish the game a triple shy of the cycle and 1B Parker Lester had his second multi-hit game of the year.
