OSTRANDER WALKS IT OFF IN WEDNESDAY WIN
The Chukars earned their second series win of the season and in as many weeks as they are now 5-3 in their home stand.
The Chukars earn their first walk-off of the season for their first three-game win streak of the year.
After a 1-0 game, Idaho Falls scored nine runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 9-1 lead.
OF Sam Canton extended his hitting streak to 18 games, the longest by a Chukar this season. He did so with his team-leading 12th home run of the year.
Three batters later, C Drew Stengren hit his second home run as the Chuks brought 13 batters to the plate. With two runs put up in the fifth inning, Idaho Falls led 11-1 over Great Falls.
That’s when Great Falls had about enough of being behind. They scored eight in the top of the sixth and Idaho Falls led 12-8.
In the top of the eighth inning, the Voyagers plated three to tie the game at 12.
In the bottom of the eight, OF Wes Mitchell hit his seventh home run of the year, with a no-doubt blast to left field.
Great Falls would then score one to tie the game at 13 in the top of the ninth, on an RBI ground-out.
In the bottom of the ninth, DH Parker Lester led off with a walk and 3B Casey Vaughan laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner. With a walk of Emilio Barrera, UTL Garret Ostrander came up with one out in the ninth and runners on second and third.
He would hit a line drive to right field, falling for a single and scoring Lester for the Chukars first walk-off win of the year.
Ostrander would finish with four hits and four runs driven in, becoming the hero of the night.
All games can be heard on 980AM KSPZ the SportsZone and streamed on the HomeTeam Network.
