CHUKARS EARN FIRST SERIES WIN OF THE SEASON
Idaho Falls earned their first series win of the season with their 14-10 win over the Boise Hawks. The Chukars took Tuesday and Thursday’s games into the win column during the quick three-game set.
Boise put a run up in the top of the first, as Idaho Falls plated a pair, thanks to RBI singles from OF Sam Canton and 1B Justin Trimble.
Boise would take a 3-2 lead in the second and hold it until the bottom of the third. IF put another two on the board with a pair of solo tanks.
OF Tyler Wyatt hit his first round-tripper to left field to tie the game at three and on the very next pitch, OF Wes Mitchell homered to the backside in right field.
Boise would tie the game in the fourth and take a one-run lead in the fifth, putting the game at 5-4.
In the fifth, IF put up three runs on an RBI single from C Drew Stengren to take a 7-5 lead over the Hawks, and the Chuks would not let the lead go.
The sixth inning saw a two-RBI single from OF Tyler Wyatt, doubling the lead to four.
Boise would plate three in the eighth before falling apart defensively, allowing five insurance runs to score on four hits, two errors and a pair of walks.
Eight of the nine batters that came to the plate for Idaho Falls tallied a hit, and OF Sam Canton continues to lead the league in the hit column, with 49 on the season. It was his third game with four hits, as he extended his hitting streak to 13 games. OF Tyler Wyatt drove in three runs, leading the offense.
The Chukars begin a three-game weekend series against the Red Pocket Mobiles on Friday at 7:05 PM.
