CHUKARS STORM BACK FOR FIRST HOME WIN
The Chukars and Hawks went back-and-forth on Tuesday night in a whacky 17-16 Chuks win.
Idaho Falls took the first lead of the night, thanks to a two-run home run from 3B Justin Trimble and an RBI single from SS Emilio Barrera in the bottom of the second.
Boise would respond rapidly, and rudely, as the first four batters of the top of the third were walked. They would hit three home runs, in the inning, plating eight runs to take a five-run lead.
The Chuks would chip one away in the fifth thanks to a sacrifice fly from OF Wes Mitchell.
The IF bullpen would keep them in the game, putting up three zeroes from the fourth to the sixth inning, until Boise put up five insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Cue the Carousel! Idaho Falls worked a pair of walks to begin the seventh to allow OF Sam Canton to hit a three-run home run. It was his league-leading 10th home run, and four-straight games with a home run, the longest streak by a Chukar this year.
After seven walks by the Boise staff, 3B Justin Trimble hit a GRAND SLAM to take a 16-13 lead in the seventh. He is the first Chukar to have multiple two-home run days this season.
Boise would then plate three runs in the eighth inning, to tie the game at 16 a piece.
In the top of the eighth, C Drew Stengren lead off with a single, and after a 1B Mark Kirkland walk, LHP Seth Spencer came into to pinch run for Stengren. With the bases loaded, DH Ty Dooley would bounce into a double play with the winning-run scoring.
RHP Ryan Inouye would then slam the door shut with a pair of strikeouts in a three-up-three-down ninth inning to earn his first win of the season. He would punch out five of the eight batters he faced.
All games can be heard on 980AM KSPZ the SportsZone and streamed on the HomeTeam Network.
