CHUKARS LOSE NAIL-BITER IN BOISE
After Thursday’s win, the Boise Hawks came back and won the next three games in Boise, winning five of the six games in the Capital City.
Idaho Falls dropped the series-finale by a score of 8-2, after the game was a one-run game through the first seven and a half innings. The Chukars led three of those frames. Boise’s five-run eighth was enough insurance to ensure their win.
Sunday’s game was a battle between two starters who had their “A” stuff. RHP Ian Lanik retired the Hawks in order in the first inning, before allowing a run in the second. He would put up zeros on the board in four of the six innings he appeared in. His 5.1 innings pitched was the longest start of 2026.
On the other side, Boise pitcher Joe Skapinetz had his wiff pitches working, fanning five of the first six batters he faced, tallying 10 strikeouts in six complete.
In the top of the fourth, trailing by a run, OF Sam Canton hit his ninth home run of the season to tie the game at one a-piece. His 43 hits and nine home runs leads the Pioneer League. Unfortunately, that would be the last time he would get the chance to swing, as he was intentionally walked in the next two plate appearances.
RHP Ryan Inouye tossed a scoreless inning and two-thirds, extending his scoreless streak to three games.
Idaho Falls fell to 2-21 on the season, and Boise settled themselves into third place in the Pioneer League Standings with their 16-8 record.
The Chukars will host Boise at Melaleuca Field for a six-game series, beginning on Tuesday at 7:05 PM. It will be the first half of a 12-game home stand against Boise, Great Falls and the RedPocket Mobiles.
All games can be heard on 980AM KSPZ the SportsZone and streamed on the HomeTeam Network.
