OGDEN OUT-SLUGS CHUKARS
The Chukars lost their sixth consecutive game on Tuesday night, in a 22-16 slugfest against Ogden.
Idaho Falls had back-to-back big innings, putting up a whopping 10 runs in the second and the third. In the second inning, C Abraham Valdez had a two-RBI single to score Wes Mitchell and 3B Justin Trimble.
Two batters later, OF DJ Walker cleared the bases with a triple, his first hit as a Chukar.
The third inning began quietly, until a walk, OF Cal Royer single, and a hit-by-pitch, loaded the bases for SS Ty Dooley. Dooley then blasted a 441 ft grand slam to dead-center field, his first home run of the year, the second grand-slam on the season for the Chukars, and the longest home run of the year.
With Idaho Falls leading by eight, Ogden began to chip away, putting a run up in each inning from the second to the fifth inning.
In the sixth inning, the Raptors plated 10 runs on just three hits. They would then add five runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to put 22 runs on the board on 21 hits, both the most given up by Chukar pitching this season.
Each Chuks hitter that came to the plate recorded a hit for the second time this season.
SS Ty Dooley doubled his season RBI total with six runs batted in at the top of the Chukar lineup card. LF DJ Walker had a pair of hits and drove in four in his Chukars debut.
After nine new players joined the team on Monday, seven players made their Chukars debut in front of the home crowd.
Game two of a six-game set against Ogden will be on Wednesday at 6:35 PM, at Melaleuca Field. All Chukar games can be heard on 980AM the SportsZone and stream on the HomeTeam Network.
