BILLINGS BASHES THEIR WAY TO A SATURDAY WIN
Idaho Falls dropped their fifth-straight loss to the Mustangs on Saturday night, by a score of 10-3.
Chukars starting pitcher RHP Josh Leerssen struck out 10 Billings’ batters, the first Chukar to have double-digit punch outs since Gary Grosjean on August 16th, of last season.
Idaho Falls took the first lead after a lead of triple from 1B Mateo Mathews, later scored by INF Casey Vaughan. Billings would hit a two-run home run in the second and again in the fourth, by Pat Mills, who has five home runs against the Chuks this season.
In the fifth inning, OF Cal Royer hit his first professional home run over the scoreboard at Dehler Park, for a solo jack.
The third homerun of the day for Billings would make the game 8-2, and they added three more in the eighth inning.
The Chukars played a clean game in the field, and walked just four batters, while striking out 15. RHP Soloman Washington had a career-high four strikeouts in 2.1 innings of relief.
Idaho Falls will wrap up their nine-game road trip on Sunday, with a 1:05 matinee against Billings.
All Chukar games can be heard on 980AM the SportsZone and streamed on the HomeTeam Network.
