BILLINGS RALLIES, HANDS CHUKARS LOSS
Idaho Falls fell to the Billings Mustangs on the road on Thursday night by a score of 15-7. Idaho Falls took an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. INF Ty Dooley and INF Garret Ostrander started with a pair of singles, and OF Wes Mitchell had a two-RBI single with the bases loaded. C Jonathan Gonzalez Perez tacked on two more with a two-RBI single as well.
The Chukars added another on in the second, with an RBI groundout for OF Sam Canton who drove in his team-leading 13th run in nine games.
RHP Wilton Castillo had stranded four base runners in the first two innings before allowed 3 runs in the bottom of the third. He and Manager Les Lancaster were ejected in the bottom of the fourth, third total ejection of the series including Billings’ AJ Shaver on Tuesday night.
Billings would end up plating six runs in that fourth inning on four doubles.
Idaho Falls would respond with a two-run home run from OF Wes Mitchell, his third consecutive game with a home run, the longest homer streak of the season. However, that was it for the scoring for the Chuks on the night.
Billings would score two in the sixth and on more in the eighth, for a 15-7 final. Idaho Falls committed four errors for the third time this season.
Wes Mitchell led the offense with three runs driven in and Garret Ostrander had his fourth multi-hit day in a row, and 12 hits in the last week.
Chukars are back in action on Friday night, 6:35 PM MT first pitch with the pregame show beginning at 6:15 PM on 980AM KSPZ the SportZone and HomeTeam Network.
