The Chukars earned their first win of the season, with an offensive onslaught, defeating Great Falls, 16-9.

The top of the first started with a bang, as OF Sam Canton started the day with a 425’ ft home run to right center field, his team-leading third of the season. Just two batters later, 1B Cole Robinson hit his first professional home run to the exact same spot, giving Idaho Falls a 3-0 lead.

The Voyagers would respond in the bottom half of the inning, but Idaho Falls put runs on the board in each of their first four innings. Three more runs came in the top of the seventh for the Chuks with a two-RBI double off of the bat of C Jonathan Gonzalez Perez.

On the mound, RHP Josh Leerssen shoved, allowing just two runs through five complete, earning his first win of the season.

Great Falls began to chip away in the eighth, with four runs, but that comeback effort was quickly squandered by four Chukar runs in the top of the ninth.

Idaho Falls’ bats collected a season-high 19 hits, with six different players enjoying multi-hit days.

OF Wes Mitchell had a career-high four hits on the day, ending a home run shy of the cycle.

C Jonathan Gonzalez Perez and DH Mason Collins each made their Chukar debuts, and each collected two hits on the day.

The Chukars are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, as they travel to Billings to take on the Mustangs in game one of a six-game series in the Magic City.
