The Chukars dropped game one of their three game set in Great Falls by a final of 14-9.
The Chukars dropped game one of their three game set in Great Falls by a final of 14-9. Idaho Falls took the initial lead, until the Voyagers plated three in the bottom of the first. The second inning would be quiet for both sides until the Chuks exploded for six innings in the top of the third. UTL Garret Ostrander doubled and later scored on a OF Tyler Wyatt double before three runs were walked in by Great Falls.
Idaho Falls would tack another on in the fifth and boost their lead to 8-4. In response, Great Falls pushed across seven to take a 11-8 lead. Between the two teams, 10 batters were hit by a pitch. RHP Wilton Castillo made his first start as a Chukar, going five innings, and striking out six.
Garret Ostrander would have a stellar day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a double, a pair of RBIs and three runs scored. INF Cole Robinson’s three hits would extend his hitting streak to four games, as did OF Sam Canton with a single of his own.
Landon Smiddy would earn his first win of the season as Miguel Gonzalez was on the losing end of the decision.
