This offseason, the Idaho Falls Chukars announced the hiring of Manager Les Lancaster, the fourth manager in the team’s Independent era. The 2026 campaign marks Lancaster’s 15th season as a Manager, following three seasons at the helm of the Rocky Mountain Vibe.
The Dallas, TX native brings an ample amount of experience, having managed over 1,200 games at the
Independent level, with 655 wins under his belt, and a career winning percentage of .518.
Lancaster pitched for seven seasons in MLB, most notably with the Chicago Cubs from 1987-91. In 1989, his 1.36 ERA in 42 appearances helped the Cubs win a National League East title, en route to an NLCS berth against the San Francisco Giants.In five seasons on the north-side of Chicago, he is one of just 57 Cubs to pitch in 200 or more games for the historic franchise.
The former Baseball America “Manager of the Year” has led 10 winning seasons in his 14 as a skipper, including Championships with the Adirondack Lumberjacks of the Northern League in 2000, and with the Reno Silver Sox of the Golden Baseball League in 2006.
